It can be tough to squeeze training in along with vacations and other commitments during the busy summer months and often our dogs can feel left out of the fun. We’re here to help with that! The Summer Workshop Series is a wonderful way to continue your training over the summer months in a way that’s fun and low-commitment. This is also a great way to get back into training with your dog if it’s been a while since you’ve been in classes or lessons with us. We even have a few offerings for people who are new to training and want to get a taste of what we do here before committing to a class or lessons. Each workshop covers a single topic in depth, which allows you to pick and choose which ones would be the best fit for you and your dog. These workshops are open to dogs of all skill levels and the experience will be customized to meet your needs. You also have the option of electing to join us for all of the workshops at a reduced rate. We look forward to offering you a new and exciting way to keep training a part of your life this summer!

6/25/2017 - Canine Body Language ($25)
Interested in knowing more about how our dogs communicate with us and each other? Do you take your dog out to public places, have them interact with other dogs, or have a dog whose behavior you’re having a hard time figuring out? This seminar will go over the various ways that our dogs use their body language to communicate and what those subtle signals mean. By learning how to read our canine companions we can better understand their likes and dislikes and help them safely navigate the world. This workshop is for humans only and will include lectures, video examples, Q&A, and information sheets to take home with you.
7/29/2017 - House Training ($55)
Have a new dog in your life or a current dog who has difficulty figuring out where to go to the bathroom? This workshop will go over House Training from the very beginning and is perfect for puppies, new to you dogs, and dogs who have had trouble with learning where to go. We will go over several methods to quickly get you and your dog on an accident-free schedule and set them up for future success. This workshop is for humans only and will include lectures, Q&A, and information sheets to take home with you.
8/26/2017 - Crate Training ($25)
Crate Training is a valuable skill for any dog to have and having a dog that relaxes comfortably in their crate is a great asset. Even if you choose not to crate in the home after puppyhood, your dog will have to be comfortable being crated if they need to stay at the vet, the groomer, during travelling, or in any variety of unforeseen circumstances. This workshop will go over how to teach or reteach your dog to love their crate. We will break down the skills in a way that teach the dog to go into their crate on cue and stay there until released even with the door open. This class is open anyone who has dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs. It will include a short lecture, Q&A, working time, and information sheets to take home with you.

7/29/2017 - Loose Leash Walking ($25)
Practice the ins and outs of Loose Leash Walking from the very beginning steps all the way to walking past more difficult distractions successfully. This class will provide a refresher on many of the exercises we’ve covered in classes or lessons, as well as adding in several new exercises and distraction opportunities. We will also troubleshoot many common issues with Loose Leash Walking and discuss how we can help our dogs navigate the world in a way that allows for successful walks. This class is open to any current or previous training clients who have dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs.
8/5/2017 - Recalls ($50)
Want a dog that comes when you call the first time every time? This workshop will go over all the ins and outs of creating a reliable recall from a variety of distractions. We will begin with a refresher on many of the exercises we’ve covered in classes or lessons and then add in several new exercises and distraction opportunities. We will troubleshoot many common recall issues and come up with a step by step plan to off leash reliability. This class is open to any current or previous training clients who have dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs.
8/12/2017 - Polite Greetings ($50)
Is your dog a little too outgoing around new people or on the shier side? This workshop is designed to allow your dog the opportunity to learn how to greet people appropriately and when it is and is not appropriate to greet others. We will have a variety of helpers that we can practice good greetings on and work on building confidence with some of our shier friends. We will also troubleshoot many common issues with greeting people and discuss how we can help our dogs make better decisions when it comes to greetings. This class is open to any current or previous training clients who have dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs.
8/26/2017 - Public Manners ($50)
Have you ever imagined having one of those dogs that you can take anywhere and do anything with? This workshop will go over the various skills needed to have a “go anywhere” dog and allow us to practice those skills around distractions. We will go over some Loose Leash Walking skills, Impulse Control, teaching a default Settle behavior, Leave It, and ignoring distractions. We will also troubleshoot many common issues with taking our dogs into public spaces and discuss how we can help our dogs to be successful. This class is open to any current or previous training clients who have dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs.
9/2/2017 - Distraction Proofing ($50)
This workshop will build off of much of what you’ve learned in your classes and the previous workshops by proofing our dog’s skills around a variety of different distractions. We will work each dog at their skill level and add appropriate distractions to Loose Leash Walking, Recalls, Stays, etc. This gives you the chance to practice these skills around a variety of controlled distractions and come up with a solid plan to help your dog overcome their biggest distractions out in the world. We will be using food, toys, people, dogs, and anything else we can find to teach our dogs that responding to us isn’t optional no matter how exciting the world might be. This class is open to any current or previous training clients who have dogs that can work successfully around other people and dogs.
