There are plenty of fun activities for you to explore when spending a day in Seattle. We love that Seattle is an excellent place for dogs to hang out as well. There are endless places to explore, from hiking and dining to beaches. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite dog-friendly activities in Seattle.
Dog Parks
Seattle has many off-leash dog parks where your dog is free to run and play with fellow doggie friends. Here are a few of our favorites:
Magnuson Park– an 8.6-acre park with a flat play area, winding trails, and access to Lake Washington, so your dog can swim or splash around on a hot day. This is the largest and most popular dog park in Seattle.
Westcrest Park– an 8.4-acre park with plenty of trees, benches, a doggie drinking fountain, and a separate area for small and shy dogs. There are also play areas, picnic areas, and restrooms nearby.
Golden Gardens– 1-acre dog park located at Golden Gardens Park, a popular park with wetlands, trails, and beaches. The dog park is covered in wood chips and has trees, benches, and a covered area.
Dining
Your dog doesn’t have to miss out on mealtime in Seattle. There are a variety of delicious restaurants that welcome your dog. Here are a few to put on your list to try:
Norm’s Eatery & Alehouse– Not only do they offer plenty of delicious food options for you, but this restaurant also offers meal choices for your pup.
Bark! Espresso– a community coffee house that focuses on local, fresh coffee and food choices. Has a separate room for pet owners and their dogs.
The Pink Door– Italian-American cuisine with a view of Elliot bay. Has a dog-friendly outdoor patio.
Farmer’s Markets
Farmer’s markets are a lot of fun to explore on the weekend, and most of them are dog-friendly, as long as you keep your dog on a leash.
Ballard Farmer’s Market is open Sundays from 9-2, year-round, rain or shine.
The Fremont Sunday Market is open Sundays from 10-4, year-round, rain or shine.
Cruises/Ferries
Yes, you can enjoy a fun cruise with your dog in Seattle. The Ice Cream Cruise, offered on Sundays year-round and Saturdays in Summer, is a 45-min trip around Seattle’s Lake Union and is open to dogs. You can also take a ferry boat from Seattle; dogs are allowed on outside decks.
Hikes
Help burn off some of your dog’s energy with a fun hike in Seattle. There are a lot of trails you can explore without having to leave the city:
Discovery Park– this is the largest park in the city, at 534 acres, and offers trails down to the beachfront and lighthouse
Washington Park Arboretum– miles of trails for exploration through diverse plant habitats and access to the shores of Lake Washington
