Since Summer is coming soon, (well, at least I think it is…..it’s been pretty wet and cold here in Seattle) anyway…. as I said, since I think summer is coming soon, I thought it would be a good time to share with all of you a few insights I’ve gained over the years about plants that are pet safe. You know, one of the best parts of Spring for my humans is making the yard really pretty with all kinds of plants and flowers. I always like it because I get to be outside with my people while they’re planting and making the yard pretty. I often hear them talk about why they get certain plants for the yard and it’s all because of ME!! That’s right, they like to make sure that the flowers they put in our yard are safe for me, so I thought it would be a good idea to share with you which ones those are so that you’ll know which outdoor plants are pet safe too!
- Roses
- Daisies
- Daffodils
- Carnations
- Alstroemeria
- Asters
- Sunflowers
- Statice
- Poms
Now, just because these are safe, it’s probably best if you don’t allow your dog or cat to snack on them. When I say they’re safe, that just means that they aren’t toxic should they decide to take a nibble so it’s likely that they wouldn’t get sick, but it’s best to keep your pets away from all flowers as best you can. If you bring fresh flowers into the house, make sure they’re in areas away from where your cat plays, that way, it keeps your cat safe, well and the flowers too….. you know cats, they like to climb and knock things over!
