What To Do About Dogs in Hot Cars

Every year when it starts getting hot, there’s always bound to be people who underestimate the heat and put their dogs in danger by leaving them in hot cars. As of February 2015, the Washington State Senate passed a bill that makes leaving a pet locked in a hot car a civil offense. It also enables animal control officers and police to smash car windows to free the dog from the situation.

It’s important to remember that civilians are not legally allowed to smash car windows. If you see a dog in a hot car this summer, standby and contact the police or animal control as quickly as possible. If you know what store the owner might be in, notify management of the situation so that the owner can be located.

Employee Spotlight

Meet Brooke, our lead daycare attendant. Brooke has over a decade of experience working professionally with dogs, and loves learning more about dog behavior all the time. Her love for dogs is apparent in everything she does. Brooke’s personal life is also all about dogs. She shows her American Pitbull Terriers, Kaiman and Halle, in conformation and weight pulling events through the UKC.

Brooke’s other passion is photography. She’s always working on her skills, and takes absolutely beautiful pet photos. It doesn’t hurt that her own dogs, who are often her subject, are stunning! She’s even able to combine her hobbies by taking photos at dog shows.
