Finley The Dog’s Guide to the Bestest Holiday Movies

This month, Finley, the Executive Canine Quality Officer for Cascade Kennels, has written a guest blog about his top holiday movies. See any of your favorites in his list? 🐾

Hi, it’s Finley here! December is such a pawsome month. It’s definitely the bestest time of year for me. It’s when the humans put up the sparkly tree and the colorful lights. Then, we all curl up in a blanket on the couch and snuggle. But the real magic happens when they turn on the bestest holiday movies. Oh boy, do I love those! Let me tell you more about them.

Holiday Movie #1

We always seem to watch this one movie with the little kid who’s home by himself. It’s pretty funny, especially when the burglars come. Personally, I think this movie would be better if there was a dog in it to help the kid stay safe. After all, there is a dog door scene in the kitchen. Maybe the dog is staying with my good friends at Cascade Kennels? 😉 (Home Alone)

Holiday Movie #2

There’s another movie with a big, green grump. He hates Christmas, so he tries to ruin it for everyone in town. In the movie, a smart dog named Max gets to ride in a sleigh and do lots of other things to help the grump. By the end, the grump’s heart grows a lot, and Christmas is saved. That’s the kind of movie I like. Happy endings and lots of tail-wagging moments. (The Grinch)

Holiday Movie #3

Sometimes, the humans put on a movie about a good boy who finds a forever home. It’s so heartwarming and really makes me think of the holidays. I’m so lucky to have a cozy home and loving humans. (A Dog Named Christmas)

Holiday Movie #4

I also love that movie with the big magical dog who helps Santa deliver presents. He’s so fast and energetic, just like me! I wonder if I could ever be Santa’s helper. (Santa Paws) Oh, and I’ve heard my humans talk about another movie with the same dog and his puppies, and they all go on another adventure with Santa! I hope we watch that one soon! (Santa Paws 2)

Holiday Movie #5

OK., now I want to tell you about the BESTEST HOLIDAY MOVIE EVER. My all-time favorite movie is the one with the little round-headed kid and the beagle, Snoopy. He’s SO cool. He decorates and flies around in his doghouse, pretends to be other animals, and gets to howl and dance along with his friends. This movie is so much fun and always gets me into the holiday mood. (A Charlie Brown Christmas)

Movie Snacks

No holiday movie night is complete without a treat! The humans usually give me a special bone or a tasty chew toy. It’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy the show. For a truly pawsome movie night, try making homemade dog treats to share with your furry friend. My humans do this sometimes with whole-wheat flour, peanut butter, and dog-friendly holiday spices. What a yummy treat, but I’ve gotta say, the best part of holiday movie night is always the cuddles.

One last thing! There is this place called Cascade Kennels where I sometimes go to hang out with my friends at doggie daycare. It’s lots of fun and we play all day. You should check it out, too! Woof and Happy Pawlidays!
