Ahhhh, summertime! The best time of the year. The days are warm and long, the nights are cool, and my humans love to play outside with me! Here are some fun ideas for gettin’ down during the dog days of summer!
Sprinklers
I am a huge fan of playing in the sprinkler. There’s only one way it can be better, and that’s when there are kids around to run through it with me! Little people puppies are so much fun. My friend Crosby told me the other day that the kids in his neighborhood play fetch with him in the sprinkler. How awesome is that?!
Kiddie Pools
And then, of course, there are kiddie pools. There aren’t words for how much I love splashing around in a wading pool. Try putting frozen treats in the pool and making it a big game of bobbing for treats!
Frozen Treats
Speaking of frozen treats, nothing beats a pupsicle on a hot day. There are lots of ways to get creative with frozen dog treats! They’re refreshing, and easy to make. One of my favorites is a combination of peanut butter, banana, apple juice and yogurt. YUM!
Backyard Agility
One great way to spend a sunny day with your pup is to put together a backyard obstacle course. Nothing fancy – just stuff to jump over and run through! Super easy to do, especially if you have a garage full of odds and ends to use your imagination with. It’s great exercise for everyone involved, and keeps us active and enjoying the sunshine!
Enjoying the Great Outdoors
Of course, we canines also love to spend time with our humans while you are out enjoying your summertime activities, so don’t forget to take us along when you can. We love romping on the beach, going for hikes, and camping at dog-friendly campsites!
Drive-In Movies
Here’s one I bet you never thought of: Drive-In Movies! For a dog, it hits all the major points for a perfect outing; family, car rides with your head out the window, snacks, lounging…. THE WORKS! There’s even places for dogs to go potty during the movie, so don’t you even worry. Pack up the whole family, get in that car and go catch a flick with your dog!
